FAQ

YOU HAVE QUESTIONS

  • Where is Idle Fancies jewelry made?
Idle Fancies jewelry and furniture is handcrafted in Charlotte, NC using a mix of modern and traditional techniques to provide fine work on each piece. Our California-based partner is a manufacturing business with decades of experience making fine jewelry. They make all of our precious metal parts for our jewelry (chains, clasps, etc.)
  • How long will it take to prepare my order?
The time I need to prepare an order for shipping varies. For details, see individual items. Most items take 3-5 business days unless otherwise stated in the listing. If you need a rush on an order please contact me directly and I will do my best to accommodate you.
  • How do custom orders work?
A custom order is anything created just for you. It can be a variation of an existing item currently not offered in the shop or completely new design that you would like me to make for you. These items cannot be returned for a refund or exchange and cannot be cancelled once I start on your order, that includes ordering materials specifically for your purchase. To request a custom order, please reach out via email at customorders@idlefancies.co or you can call us directly at 1-980-785-4002.
  • Are clasps made of real gold/silver/rose gold?
Yes, the clasps of our necklaces and bracelets are made of 14K gold-fill, 14K gold-filled rose gold, and real sterling silver. 14K GOLD-FILL: 14K gold-fill is substantially durable and, when properly cared for, 14K gold-filled jewelry will stand up to being worn every day for a lifetime. Our items are NOT gold plated or gold dipped vermeil jewelry, which can chip off over time with wear. Gold-filling is a process that involves pressure bonding multiple layers of solid 14k gold with extreme heat over a core of high quality jeweler's brass resulting in a durable, quality real gold product. It will never chip or flake off. It won’t tarnish and will not rub off or turn colors. Wearers who are sensitive to certain metals can wear gold filled without worries of an allergic reaction and, because of the materials involved, you can always be sure that 14K gold-fill is also a nickel free material. ROSE GOLD: When it comes to gold-fill, rose gold follows the same specifications as yellow gold, with a thick layer of 14k gold over a jeweler’s brass core. The only difference is the color of the gold—one is 14k rose, the other 14k yellow. STERLING SILVER: Sterling silver is one of the most commonly used metals in high-end and high-quality jewelry and accessories. Sterling silver is strong and durable and, when properly cared for, sterling silver jewelry will stand up to being worn every day for a lifetime.
  • Will any of your jewelry tarnish or blacken?
It is very unlikely that your Idle Fancies jewelry will blacken or tarnish. Please see below for more details on the different kinds of metals used in Idle Fancies jewelry pieces. ________________________________ GOLD: 14K gold-fill is substantially durable and, when properly cared for, 14K gold-filled jewelry will stand up to being worn every day for a lifetime.
